that something was the Spirit of God, and this book is the reason that voice told you to let us in

Hey!

This last week was OK. We got let in again doing some tracting. That was good. The Colombian lady that let us in just had us over for dinner this last Sunday. she is very special. She told us that the first day when we rung her doorbell she did not want to let us in for nothing and made a quick excuse that she was cleaning. As i was ringing the other doorbells, she gets back on the microphone and asked if the message that I said was actually 3 minutes, then we can come up and share it.
She told us over dinner that as she was looking at us over the camera, there was something that told her to let us in. I proudly told her, as I pulled out the book of Mormon, that that something was the Spirit of God, and this book is the reason that voice told you to let us in.
She is an amazing lady:)

Anyways, don't got much time to write cause of pday' activities. Love you!

Some thoughts from Carthage Jail

Hey family,

Elder Christopherson did come to the mission. I wasn't able to go because I was "too far" from the mission office. So that was kinda lame. There weren't too many missionaries that missed it, but I was one of them. I heard it was pretty amazing though. They had zone trainings on it and they are still talking about it. I'm not bitter though:) I had more time to do the work of the lord then all those other missionaries that went:)

This last week was pretty normal. Didn't do anything too special. We have a new baptismal date for a man from Columbia. His name is Eduardo and his date is for June 25th. He is a pretty legit guy. We are seeing him this Saturday.

I've been studying the life of Joseph Smith a little. I read about his martyrdom at Carthage. There were 4 men in the room when it happened, and two lived. Joseph smith, Hyrum smith, John Taylor, and Willard Richards were all in the room, and Joseph and his brother Hyrum, as we know, were killed.
A Part I really liked though was several hours before the event happened as they were sitting in the room. The men felt "Gravely depressed" so they asked John Taylor to sing the all famous song A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief. I can only try to imagine the spirit and feelings that were happening in those final moments as John Taylor sang that beautiful song. It must have been pretty special, because the Prophet Joseph asked him to sing it a second time. It brings me to tears, truly, to think about those last few hours of their lives especially when they were listening to their dear friend sing this song. Tears must of been flowing down the faces of those men, not out of fear but of most everything else. The hugs shared, the testimonies given, the tears shed, and the strong power of the spirit. It was inevitable and probably, as I imagine, the most dramatic and emotional time of their lives. This really touched me.

Anyways, that's about all. I sure love you all. Y'all rock! :)

Engraving the doctrine of Christ on our hearts

Hey family

it was great being able to talk to you all. I loved it, but it felt kinda weird, not gonna lie. You are all just a dream! Not reality. It seems that way anyways.

Nothing too much to say about this last week. On Sunday I got to skype Y'all. We had zone conference. I loved what we talked about. We talked about Engraving the doctrine of Christ on our hearts. Sounds painful, I know. Maybe potential death cause no one should be engraving a human heart. But if we think about this non-literally, it becomes beautiful.
It is reading the scriptures and applying them. It's an everyday process that every member of the Church of Jesus Christ must do. And yes, at times it can be painful. The process of Repentance is hard and painful. How else can someone be refined from a coal to a precious diamond without a grueling process? The answer is simple, you can not.
This process is grueling, yet beautiful beyond all measure. Such a miraculous gift from the Son of God Himself. Wouldn't we all wanna be beautiful diamonds?
Everyday we must read, pray, repent ourselves if we are to engrave His doctrine on our hearts. Blessing await those who do just this:)

The work is going great! Like I've said before, couldn't of asked for a better place than this:) I'm loving it.

Love you all,

Clinging to the Rod will lead us in a direct path to the Tree which is the Love of God.

My dear family,

Dad transfers already happened. I am staying with Anziano Robinson for sure:) We will be together at least until the beginning of next month. I am guessing he will "kill" me next transfer also. It is good we are together.

Mom, I got the cards! I loved all of them:) Thanks so much. I have the best family on this planet. Took me a while to realize that, but at least I know that now:) Jenesa's card was Hilarious! To bad you don't get our humor mom;) haha. I woulda done the same to Jenesa.

Well, our work is kinda taking a down slope again. We have been doing a LOT of finding work. We are contacting hundreds a day. I would say out of about 1,000 people there will be about 2 people who actually have an interest about listening to us or are just nice and let us in there house or accept us to come to their house. Yesterday we found a lady named Natasha. Jenner would be excited about her, she is from Nairobi, Kenya. She has a little baby and a boyfriend that she lives with. Speaks perfect english:) We found her in a park. We are going to see her on friday:) She is so nice! I was almost shocked about how quickly she accepted to let us come over.
We also got let in ringing doorbells again. I'll tell that story in a couple days cause its a funny one:)

In my studies today I read about Lehi's dream. I sure love that dream:) My favorite scripture in there is verse 24. It talks about big groups of people pressing forward through the midst of darkness while clinging to the Iron rod. I love the word clinging. I like to imagine if you are hanging off a 500ft cliff. Are you not going to cling to the cliff for your dear life?? You don't just lightly grab or hold the cliff with your fingertips to save your life, you cling to it in hopes of saving your precious life.
These people were stuck in a think midst of darkness, not being able to see anything. They didn't walk by the rod, or touch it with their fingertips while walking by it... They clung to it in hopes of arriving to the Tree of life which contained the most precious of all fruit. Beautiful.
We learn a couple chapters later the the Iron rod is the word of God, which we can relate to as the scriptures or General conference talks. We are supposed to cling to these things in order to save our lives, not only reading them, but living by them. Clinging is reading these things and then putting them into action. Someone who hangs on with their fingertips or simply walks by the rod does one or the other or non at all. How do they expect to reach the tree of life when they start falling away from the Rod which God gave to us for Guidance?
Clinging to the Rod will lead us in a direct path to the Tree which is the Love of God. The angel that explains the meaning of all these things says that the tree is, "the most joyous to the soul."
There are a lot of fun things to look into out of Lehi's dream:)

Love,

Spending a birthday in the mission field

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. It was a great birthday:)

It sounds like the trip to Salt Lake went just perfect. I love temple square! I am not surprised that was the highlight of the trip. I still want to see the pictures though. I remember flying to Salt Lake one day by myself because I had to sign some papers for the mission. I had a couple hours to kill, so I went to temple square. I sat there looking at the Jesus statue for a while, what a great spiritual time that was, then the Italian sisters came up and we talked for a good 2 hours or something haha. They pumped me up for the mission again :) I am glad you guys had a good time.

Yesterday (my birthday) I tried to keep everything silent. I didnt want anyone to know about it, especially my comp. It went good until lunch time. Anz. Rojas called me and started singing loudly over the phone so my comp Anz. Robinson heard. Haha. He thought my birthday was in may because I put it on the calender like that (even in my ipad) and I tricked him good:)
In the morning for my b-day we went and rung doorbells for about three hours. Had lunch after that. Went back out to ring more bells and this time someone let us in:) His name was Mashemed. Obviously he is muslem, but a very nice one. We had a great conversation and lesson with him. Then we left him and had another lesson with one of our investigators. Then we talked to some people on the street for a while then had dinner at a all you can eat pizza place for 7.00 euro! It was awesome:) We werent gonna go because he wasnt supposed to know that it was my birthday. But it was great:)

Other than that, life is going good herre! Love you all
